WYNCHWOOD BARNS

Approx. 38,000 sq. ft.

PROBLEM : Client wanted to convert this 1913 Street Car heritage building into a LEED certified, green oriented local community epicenter. Multiple challenges were present given the crumbling original structure, strict heritage building code’s and LEED requirements.

SOLUTION : Guycan removed entire original pitch roofing system over various concrete and wooden deck areas. The R-value of the building was then dramatically increased by installing ”Polyisocyan- urate insulation (R) which increased heat retention. A 50mil PVC membrane was then mechanically fastened which provides the building with incredible cooling benefits and exceeds LEED requirements. The building now functions as a community center and multi-use park for the local community.

TD CANADA TRUST

Approx. 9,500 sq. ft.

PROBLEM : This was a TD Canada Trust pilot project for their first LEED certified building. They required a roofing system that met or exceeded LEED requirements.

SOLUTION : Guycan provided a single ply PVC membrane, that exceeded all LEED standards. We also installed R30 insulation to save on energy costs. The PVC membrane has 87% reflective, and 97% emissive ratings, which helps reduce cooling costs up to 40%.

CANADA’S WONDERLAND

Approx. 8000 sq. ft.

PROBLEM : Roof was a fluted metal roofing system with a 2/12 slope. Ice and snow was building up causing the fasteners to pop up due to hydro compression. Heat lost was also a concern, as well as rust.

SOLUTION : Over the existing metal roof, we then installed flute fillers to allow for a smooth surface. Guycan installed R18 insulation and then encapsulated the entire building with a white single-ply PVC Roofing System.

KLEEN FLO

Approx. 90,000 sq. ft.

PROBLEM : Client needed to expand, and planned on keeping the building for an extended period of time. They needed to move in 2 weeks, also needed leak proof solutions due to the volatile chemical’s stored in their facility.

SOLUTION : Thanks to prefabrication, the white PVC roofing system comes in sheets up to 2000 sq. ft. Guycan was able to install the roof in 8 working days, 6 days ahead of schedule. The owner was so impressed that Guycan ended up retrofitting the complete 80,000 sq. ft. building. We were then contracted to supply and install their 300KW solar system.

  • Olympia Tile & Stone office and flagship showroom facility was covered with an aging and deteriorating roofing system, and the leaks had begun to disrupt daily business operations. Olympia needed an immediate fix. According to Guycan’s Roof Consultant “with a built-up system, we would have needed to postpone the project until spring when the snow and ice melts. Olympia Tile could not afford to wait because the current roof wouldn’t withstand another winter season. Leaks were already causing damage to their product inventory.   • Kleen-Flo Tumbler Industries Limited had a roof that was over 30 years old, and needed constant repair to keep from leaking. Guycan’s repair service was able to contain the leaks, and keep the problem from worsening. Sukhdev Mann was so impressed by the prompt service; he decided to hire Guycan for the 85,000 sq.ft. re-roofing project. Guycan was able to install the Duro-Last membrane in 4 weeks with no disruption to Kleen-Flo’s daily operations. Sukhdev was impressed not only by the workmanship Guycan was providing, but also by the unique relationship he was able to build with Guycan owners Randy and Jason Deonarain. When it was time for Kleen-Flo to install solar panels, Guycan was the only solution.
